Rourke clears Waivers and the Old Man is Furious

Nathan Rourke cleared NFL waivers and is expected to sign onto Jaguars practice roster.

What does a Canadian QB need to do to make it onto a 53-man roster?  With 32 teams in the NFL, that is 64 QB spots and add in 32 more if you go with a qb3 spot on the roster. Let’s say only half the teams dress 3 QB’s that is 80 QB spots.  Can anyone explain to me how anyone would put a generational talent at 81st in the NFL? If anyone was paying attention, Kid Canada lit up the CFL last year.  In his injury shortened season he threw for over 3000 yards, 25 TD’s and had 79% completion rate.  IN 10 GAMES!!!!   IN the 2023 NFL preseason he had a QB rating over 108, he grabbed the attention of everyone with a miracle toss for TD and he ends up on a Practice Roster?

Tell me politics didn’t play a major part in this.  Now the question is how long will Rourke sit on a practice roster knowing he could make $600k plus in the CFL? My prediction is he will get an opportunity this season and once given that opportunity he will stick.  To all those saying Nathan Rourke isn’t good enough, you are wrong!  Simply WRONG. I bet you were the same saying Flutie was too small to play in the NFL, tell buffalo that. You probably said Warren moon wasn’t good enough to break into the NFL, how about that kid that played in the CFL and was told he would make it in the NFL, right Jeff Garcia wasn’t good enough.  OK enough ranting, but this old man has his blood pressure up.  Remember you heard it here 1st……  NATHAN ROURKE WILL BE A HALL OF FAME QB IN THE NFL!!!!!!

  1. $600,000? Nobody is being paid that in the CFL.

So I ask, why didn’t the Lions extend his contract to that level? It’s not as much as he’s going to make sitting on an NFL practice squad, but I’m sure you would have had his ear.
