Nathan Rourke Place on Waivers

Jacksonville jaguars vs dallas cowboys.

Nathan Rourke being placed on waivers has brought out the experts on all social media platforms. I have read everything from he doesn’t need to clear waivers because he is a rookie to, he has signed a deal with the Calgary Stampeders.

All this chatter made me to do a deep dive into what it really means and non of the above is true except the fact the Jaguars have placed the NFL preseason stand out QB on waivers.  I am not sure what it would have taken for Nathan made the Jaguars 53-man roster as he played his heart out on every preseason game, they put him in and set social media on fire with some superhuman plays.

None-the-less, he is on waivers and what exactly does that mean?

Well, it means that any team in the NFL can put in a claim for Nathan.  The way the NFL waiver system works is the teams have until Wednesday to put in a claim or waive the player.  The Waiver list mimics the draft list, each team in order of the draft can claim Rourke. If no team claims him, he then can become a free agent or sign with Jacksonville on their practice squad. As I am typing this on Tuesday night, I truly feel a team will grab this guy quickly. His preseason stats are very impressive and ended up having a QB Rating of 107.8   Yes it was preseason, but I am sure many heads were turned, and many GMs are staying up late for the next few days trying to see where this Canadian kid can fit into their system.

As a west coast kid at heart, I am hoping Seattle takes advantage of the 5th pick to claim him and give him an true opportunity to prove he not only belongs in the NFL but will be a superstar in the league for many years.  We can all put out our opinions for the next 24 to 48 hours then we will get the official word from NFL head office sometime Wednesday afternoon.  This guy is counting the hours to see who Nathan which NFL team will claim him.

As for the craziness of him coming back to the CFL and signing with the Stamps?

Well, that isn’t going to happen and IF, and that is a major IF it does happen, the BC Lions still own his rights, and you can take it to the bank he will not be signing with the Stamps.
